Utah Soccer Alliance is one of the largest and most competitive clubs in the state. It is the premier club on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley. USA has more than 50 teams that represent every age group in the Utah Youth Soccer State competition league, in both boys and girls competitions. Our premier teams are routinely among the top teams in the state, compete in the Utah State Cup, and travel and compete in various out-of-state tournaments. Our teams have competed against teams from California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Arkansas, Arizona, Texas, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Alaska and even Porto Alegre, Brazil. In the 2009 Fall Season, USA was first place in four of the premier divisions.
Utah Soccer Alliance also boasts one of the strongest coaching staffs in the state, and is, without a doubt, the top staff in this part of the Valley. Dennis Burrows is the Director of Coaching (DOC). Dennis has been coaching soccer since 1989 and has been the Sparta United girls program DOC for 14 years. Dennis' successes include 16 state cup championships, 23 state cup final appearances, coaching both boys and girls teams, and has been an ODP age group head coach since 1996. Dennis has coached top 25 nationally ranked teams and has also been involved with a successful college placement for club players which will be a great benefit to USA. USA also has many other ODP staff coaches, former professional and collegiate standouts. USA works closely with the local high schools and has on their staff the head coaches from Lone Peak High School, Herriman High School, Waterford High School and Bingham High School.
Finally, Utah Soccer Alliance has a unique mission and goal. We focus on player development and a place for everyone to play. With the number of competitive teams we field at all levels, and with our large recreation program with more than 300 teams, there is always a place for everyone to play. USA continues to be one of the best values in the Intermountain Region, as we have some of the lowest fees for premier soccer clubs in the region, while maintaining a top coaching staff and competitive teams. We would love for you to be a part of this growing club.
In an effort to fulfill our mission of providing, "a place for everyone to play," three (3) tiers of Club soccer are available to all players in Utah Soccer Alliance.
Recreation: One of the largest programs in the state of Utah, our Recreation tier hosts 2500+ participants, boys and girls, and encourages every child, no matter ability, an opportunity to learn the game of soccer and have fun. The Recreation tier also provides a Top Soccer program, for our special needs players, and operates a U7 and U8 Academy under the guidance of former Real Salt Lake star, and current Head Scout, Andy Williams. Teams will be lead by volunteer coaches with minimal financial, time and travel commitment.
Alliance: The Alliance tier at USA is our intermediate tier; for those individual boys and girls that have perhaps outgrown the Recreation format or simply would enjoy the greater competition of the statewide league format, but still desire more local or regionalized play. Coaches in this tier are volunteer but also required to be State and/or nationally licensed. Team financial, time and travel commitments are kept moderate.
Competition: For the discerning player, the Competition tier engages the player technically, tactically, physically and mentally. Players and teams in this tier are expected to compete for local, regional and national titles. Additionally, these teams (U13 and older) will compete in the four-state Mountain Division of the prestigious National Premier League (NPL) and the UYSA sponsored winter Desert Premier Soccer League (DPSL ) and College Showcase. Players from this tier are scouted for participation on Olympic Development (ODP) pool teams and the highly regarded national scouting and development program sponsored by the NPL and US Club Soccer (id2). Teams will be led by paid, nationally licensed coaches and can expect substantial financial, time and travel commitments year-round.
The mission of USA is to provide every player that desires to play soccer, an appropriate place to play; to help make the soccer experience fun and enjoyable; to instill the principles of fair play and sportsmanship; and to offer the best and most committed players a challenging and rewarding environment where they can achieve their full potential. In doing this, we remember that the game is for the kids.
