USA at the Utah Summer Games- USA had 14 teams compete at the Summer Games in Cedar City, June 11th-14th.  The Summer Games is the largest soccer tournament in Utah, with over 300 teams participating.  USA brought home 5 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze medal.  The divisions are labeled by color, with Blue being the top division, then Red, White, Green & Purple.  Here are the USA results:

Red 99 Boys - 4th Place.  Lost 2-1 to Hot Shots in the U10 Boys Red Division Bronze medal game.
Red 98 Boys - Gold Medal.  Beat Rampage, 3-0, to win the U10 Boys Blue Division.
White 98 Boys - Bronze Medal.  Beat Lakers, 2-1, for the U10 Boys Blue Division Bronze medal.
Red 98 Girls - Gold Medal.  Beat Brigham City Steam, 3-2, to win the U10 Girls Blue Division.
Red 97 Boys - Gold Medal.  Beat Razzia, 7-2, to win the U12 Boys Red Divsion.
Red 96 Boys - Silver Medal.  Lost to Utah Rush, 1-0, in the U12 Boys Blue Division Gold medal game.
White 96 Boys - 4th Place.  Lost to Rampage, 2-1, in the U12 Boys Blue Division Bronze medal game.
White 96 Girls - Did not advance out of U12 Girls Blue Division group play.
Red 95 Boys - Gold Medal.  Beat Fusion, 1-0, to win the U14 Boys Red Division.
White 95 Boys - Did not advance out of U14 Boys Red Division group play.
Red 94 Boys - Silver Medal.  Lost to Razzia, 1-0, in the U14 Boys Blue Division Gold medal game.
White 94 Boys - Gold Medal.  Beat Hurricane Tigers, 6-3, to win the U14 Boys White Division.
Red 93 Girls - Did not advance out of U16 Girls Blue Division group play.
Red 92 Girls - Did not advance out of U16 Girls Blue Division group play.

USA Team wins Kick It 3v3 tournament - Jacob Angeletti, Jacob Schoonmaker, Nico Mascot and Aaron Hanson, representing USA Red 99 Boys, took 1st place at this weekends Kick It 3v3 Tournament in the U-10 Bracket.  They beat Idaho Rush '99, who are currently ranked 17th in the nation at 3v3, for the title -- 4-3.  They earned a birth in the Regional Championships to be played in Las Vegas in November.
 
2nd Annual USA Soccer Camp - July 7-10, Canyonview Park.
Girl's State Cup - USA sends 2 girls' teams to the 2008 UYSA Spring State Cup. Red 96 Girls, coached by Karen Wunderli, finished 5th in the U12 premier division and Red 95 Girls, coached by Eric Blommer, finished 2nd in the U13 premier division. Best of luck to both teams... Go USA Girls!
Update:  The Red 96 Girls went 2-1 in group play and advanced to the quarterfinals as the first place team, where they will play Black Diamond on Tuesday (5/20).  The Red 95 Girls also went 2-1 and advanced as the 2nd place team, where they will meet La Roca in the quarterfinals. 
 
Update #2:  The Red 95 & 96 girls both lost in the last minute of their quarterfinal matches.  The 95 girls lost 1-0 on a last minute goal, after a tough defensive battle.  The Red 96 girls lost 4-3 to Black Diamond, in a very entertaining game that went back and forth, before Black Diamond got the go ahead goal in stoppage time.  Great showing by both teams and we look forward to watching these great teams next season.

Red 94 Boys win Las Vegas Premier Tournament - The Red 94 boys won the Las Vegas Premier tournament, which took place in Las Vegas March 29th and 30th.  Red 94, coached by Ryan Mitchell, dominated the bracket, not allowing a goal until the 2nd half of the championship game.  The Red 95 boys also competed at the tournament, but did not advance.
 
12 USA Teams Compete at President's Day Futsal Tournament - The U9 Girls (Gary Tingey) won the gold over Avalanche and the U10 Boys (Ahmed Bakrim), U12 Boys (Ahmed Bakrim) and U14 Boys (Nermin Sasivarevic) all won Silver medals. Other teams that competed are: U9 Boys (Sean Angeletti), U11 Boys (Mark Osborne), U11 Boys (Ruben Duran), U13 Boys (Nermin Sasivarevic), U13 Boys (Shane Siddoway), U13 Boys (Kasim Rahislic), U14 Boys (Danny Norris) and U12 Girls (Karen Wunderli). With 130 teams, including teams from California and Brazil, it was a great time for everyone that participated.

Missed Competition Tryouts? - If you just moved in or for some reason missed the USA competition tryouts and want to play, email justin@utahsocceralliance.com and include your child's birthday, playing experience and contact information.  We will get you in touch with any coach who has an opening and they can get a look at how they play.
